Question / Help Issues with streaming using x264

I'm not sure how to explain my issue besides streaming with x264 is awful and unwatchable. Calling it choppy is a compliment. While playing anything, the performance is fine but output to the stream is terrible. I don't have any issue using another encoder like Nvidia NVENC but the quality is lower on that even with the same settings (which afaik is to be expected).

Change the fps to 30 or 60. watch your cpu usage (i dont think that your cpu usage is too high with veryfast preset but just in case). also you could try to test your stream on twitch or youtube because i had sometimes a similar problem on hitbox.

I changed the FPS to 30 and it didn't help much. The CPU usage is actually pretty low so I don't think it's the preset. Twitch was giving me guff the other night so I recorded that on hitbox but the result on Twitch is the same, very choppy and crappy.

I'm starting to think it's something with Siege because a lot of people seem to have issues with streaming it. I did a test clip with Dota and it streamed perfectly fine.

Please post a log file with some streaming/recording attempts where you used x264. The current log is full of NVENC attempts.

The most frequent issue I've seen with people trying to stream games like RB6 and The Division is that they leave vsync and the frame limiter off, so if you fall into that category please use one or the other.
