Issues with third party apps and/or services must be directed to the support of this particular app and / or service.
If they refuse to give support, change this app/service for another one.
If you're using the alerts on Twitch, they have now it's own alerts system.

what PaiSand said
and beware there is StreamElements plugin for OBS Studio (crap code PoS) and there is Streamlabs OBS, a forked version of OBS Studio.
Neither of which is supported here

A few years ago, not being a user myself of their version, I don't know if Streamlabs OBS is still as bad now...
Streamlabs OBS [SLOBS] is a derivative version of OBS Studio, with the front-end hacksawed off and a webpage slapped over the top by the Streamlabs folks.
You should reach out to Streamlabs <https://support.streamlabs.com/hc/en-us> for support with their forked version.

The streamelements plugin replaces core components of obs, and literally vomits all over your logs, making them unreadable.

So I would love to ditch the third party stuff what do you guys use for overlays and alerts?
I wouldn't go that far... just realize some developers put more effort into the maturity, reliability, etc (basic quality) of their code than others. And Microsoft can be its own challenge

Not being a gamer, alerts are NOT part of my workflow/OBS Studio usage. I find the OBS Studio native overlays fine for my use case. but I realize where something 'fancier' is sometimes desired. just beware, that all.

What I don't know is if the default install/settings of StreamElements can be massaged to be less problematic (ie default settings issue) or if it is a basic underlying code problem

You can't touch the website code.
The plugin only connects a few things from the website and presents it on OBS (which you can add manually as custom docks), some times messing with OBS causing other issues. It's a totaly unnesesary plugin.

The issue presents itself as the browsers tightens security. If the service refuse to update their own code...
Right now Twitch has it's own alerts service embeded on the site. I'm guessing is just a matter of time that other streaming services will do the same (exept for youtube)

you guys are awesome I ditched the streamlabs add on ad just rebuilt the alerts we will see if it helps. The only real issue im having now is I cannot use scheduled streams with youtube. every time I go into broadcast I see the schedule stream I click on it and select start streaming but it never connects to the other side ultimately I need to delete the schedule stream and just create a new stream right then and there.

Saw your thread here and I could use some insight. I stream games via Twitch and was using StreamLabs and decided to switch to OBS and i do like it so far but I needed overlays that it doesn't provide upfront like StreamLabs. I bought one online and added it fine except the only thing it didn't implement was the widgets and alerts etc. the overlay worked just fine.
After a quick search online it seemed like StreamElements was a good choice but it turned out to be super problematic. Should I ditch it and try seeing if I can use Twitch Studios to add the alerts etc? I don't know if TS will import the overlay and alerts I bought online.
