Question / Help Issues with black space and cursor duplication

No matter where I search, I cannot seem to locate anyone else having this specific issue. I've tried every fix I've come across. I am running the most recent OBS Studio 64-bit on my Nvidia graphics card as user and as administrator, and I am running the DeSmuME 9.11 Nintendo DS emulator (also using my Nvidia graphics card). I am using window capture, since game capture doesn't seem to recognize it as a game. I want to turn on the option to show my mouse cursor.

The first issue I come across is irremovable black space around the preview.

I went out of my way to measure the game screen to the pixel and used that for my display settings.

But there is still this black space. Nothing exists behind it, it's not picking up any windows I might have behind the game, it's just nonexistant space. When I turn on mouse capturing (which I would like to use to stream a DS game, so it shows where I'm clicking), i get this massive issue:

I am not even sure what it is doing, except duplicating the cursor every frame it records while it exists outside the game window.

I can adjust the actual preview size so that only the game fits in the preview pane, but I would like to find a way to avoid this issue permanently--it happens with any window capture I've ever attempted, not just DeSmuME.

Thank you for any advice and assistance in advance!
