Issue with Black screen

I have a laptop. I am aware that the capture will split unless you specify where to draw from but even then I am not getting an image on display or game capture. I have tried every known fix including running as admin, graphics setting, reinstall, checking for updates. Was wondering if there was any other fixes anyone might know of? At this point I cant get any capture to not show black screen.

Post a logfile from a recording attempt where the issue occurred. Even if it's just recording a blackscreen. We need a logfile to be able to diagnose just about any problem, why it asks for one to be included when you open a thread in the Support section. Anything else is just random guessing.

appreciated! this is what i'm getting

Both of those logfiles (you can just upload them as text files by the way, not copy/paste the contents) show OBS as running on your GeForce 1060, while you are trying to Monitor Capture. That won't work. To use Monitor Capture on a laptop, you MUST switch OBS to run on the iGPU instead (which will disable NVENC as well). This is a limitation of laptops' architecture.
Note that as of Windows 10 1903 and later, this CAN NOT BE DONE through the nVidia Control Panel.

Updated GPU selection instructions:

That said, Monitor/Display Capture is the WORST performing capture method, and should only ever be used as an absolute last-resort. Swapping to the iGPU to allow Display Capture will disable Window and Game Capture, as well as prevent you from using NVENC for encoding.
