I am a long time OBS user. I started on mac with it about 5 years ago. I gave up on mac back then and switched to Windows for most of our productions (mostly interviews and talk shows.) This was actually more driven by plugins and performance than by audio issues. I solved most of those with loopback.
Now I am trying to switch back to mac. I've just installed v29 on my mac (mac mini m2pro running ventura 13.2) and I am experimenting with dumping loopback and using the native audio capture features of the macOS Screen Capture sources.
So far it seems to work. One thing I haven't figured out is if there is any way (other than including the macOS capture source in every scene) to have the audio pervasive throughout the scene collection.
As an example, if I have an interview going on with someone via Zoom, I'd like for their audio to stay active even when I switch to a scene that has a slide or a video or something without either the local talent or the remote attendee on screen.
This approach, of course works fine for my mic but I lose the zoom audio without including that capture in every scene. I guess what I am trying to do is to have OBS add that object as an audio source.
Another use case would be switching to the local talent fullscreen but still having audio coming in from the remote.
As I used OBS in windows, Desktop Audio works to capture sources that I want to use pervasively throughout the show.
When I look at the Desktop audio source it shows "Disabled|Default|Microsoft Teams". I don't think I even have microsoft teams (unless maybe that is Skype.) I haven't found a case where I can get any audio from it and I am unclear what value Desktop Audio even has in my mac.
Can someone explain how to make this work?
