With all of these Windows 10 AU complications, I figured maybe trying an older build of OBS: Studio but I'm unsure of how to go about finding an older build. The oldest I could find was 15.4
You deluded yourself into thinking that it was an OBS side issue.
Downgrading OBS will NOT solve the windows 10 AU problems.
Downgrading however will do the following:
1> remove added features
2> break things fixed in the latest version
3> make things a pain in the ass if you have problems.
I whole-heartedly agree. However, this is the only thing that I have not yet tried :( I can't even OPEN OBS while a game is running without the game crashing and it REEEAALLY sucks that I can't even record.
Downgrading won't help. There has been a major update to OBS since the win10AU and things didn't work before OR after.
The problem has already been acknowledged by microsoft as a microsoft side break and a microsoft side fix.
It's not something obs side.
