Is there a way to make a Virtual Microphone in OBS?

In OBS, I use the virtualcamera feature a lot. but I was wondering if there was a way to use OBS audio for a "virtual microphone" of sorts.

Is there a way to take audio from a source (desktop, audio capture device, media file, etc) and output it to a virtual microphone device (like an OBS VIrtualMic) so I can use it on Discord, Zoom, Meet, etc.

I've looked over the internet for months and haven't found anything that I could understand. I have no technical knowledge of how to use the VB-Audio software like VB Cable, Voicemeeter, Banana, and I don't even know where to start.

Help is much appreciated!

Unfortunately, audio is currently a missing feature with the OBS virtual webcam.

You can use the monitoring device feature of OBS for getting audio out of OBS. It's not the way the monitoring device is meant for, but feasible as workaround.

First, install some 3rd party virtual audio device like vb-cable: https://vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm

After that, in OBS, go to Settings->Audio->Advanced->Monitoring device and set the newly installed virtual audio device here.
Then, in OBS, go to Edit->Advanced Audio Properties and set the "Audio Monitoring" drop down list to "Monitor and output" or "Monitor only" to output the corresponding source to the virtual audio device. All sources with activated monitoring are mixed to the monitoring device.

Then in Discord, Zoom, etc. set the virtual audio device as microphone device.
