Is it possible to change the length of the buffer for Video Capture Devices?

I'm using OBS to view the output from a cheap usb hdmi capture card I bought. It works fine and has low latency when I disable buffering, but it drops frames frequently. When I enable buffering, it stops dropping frames but the latency is much higher. Is there a way I can set how long the buffer is? (for example, set the buffer to 50ms)

The buffer is automatic dependent on the performance of the capture device. It will use as little buffering as is needed to ensure smooth playback. Manually turning it to a lower value (if it was possible) would just mean more missed frames. You really need to invest in a better capture device, or just split the incoming signal; one output from the splitter to your capture device, the other to a monitor. You really should never be playing on the capture preview, as there will always be multiple levels of latency involved until you get to REALLY high end capture devices.
