Question / Help Is a second monitor for Display Capture a possibility with a Macbook Pro?

Hey everyone.

So first off, I'm just gonna let you know my set up, that way you might be able to see my chain of thought.

Macbook Pro (2014, 16GB memory)
Elgato HD 60
OBS Software (various streamlabs overlays ect)
USB AT 2020

My issue revolves around the use of Display Capture. I know I can set my Laptop up (cropping ect) so that my game screen fits the display capture. I want to avoid this as then I won't be able to use my Macbook during streams. My thought was, okay, I'll use a second monitor. But I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if this is even possible? That way I could put OBS on 2nd monitor and use my Macbook as normal. Would this be possible at all? If so, would hot keys still work even? Wouldn't I need to have the OBS window "active" for any hotkey command to activate? would this ruin the "illusion" of streaming? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

EDIT: UK based here, so If I don't manage to reply straight away, I apologise, will do so as soon as I can

Yes, that's possible, although there have been issues in the past with the Mac version not recognizing hotkeys when the app is not frontmost. Worth giving a try, though.

Thank you very much for the response sir! Also, thanks for letting me know about the issue with the hotkeys. My current chain of thought was to put the Game Capture software on the second screen and keep the OBS window on my MBP so that I could manually fire off any necessary commands.

Thanks again!

Look at the OBS Websocket plugin as well if you have a tablet or other mobile device, as you can use that as a remote control.
