iPhone vs camcorder

Would using a camcorder be any better than my iPhone XR? I want to add another camera and have been thinking about buying a Canon vixia hf r800. Or should I just borrow another iPhone?

Is it worth the expense of going to the canon t7 instead? At least I could use it as a still camera also
