Hello!
I recently purchased a subscription to the OBS iOS Camera application to film some things for electronics restoration videos. I have been using a tripod and doing shots where I pan and tilt the camera. The problem is, when using a Lightning Cable to USB-C to connect my iPhone 11 Pro to my 2017 MacBook Pro, I get subtle staggering and sometimes bigger pauses or "glitchy" video on these shots, as well as any shots where I may be using my hands to fix a part of an electronic. This staggering can be seen when compared to the same shots recorded on the iPhone's camera alone.
I have tried multiple Camera Capture settings and messed with the bitrate on the iOS App, turned off all other apps on the phone, turned off all other apps on my computer and have messed around with the Video and Output Settings of the Mac App to no avail. There is always this staggering or a bigger glitch.
I realize this may be a problem with my computer, as it is five years old and only has 8GB ram. Can anyone help me to fix this staggering video?
I saw that version 3.3.0 of the iOS app was released today with Clean HDMI output. Can anyone give more information about this Clean HDMI output? I have a Lightning to HDMI dongle. If I get a capture card, will this staggering be fixed?
I'm trying to figure all of this out so that I can work seamlessly with an audio source through OBS, adding it to the captured video instead of going to sync it later in editing. I jump around a lot doing different kinds of shots and it's a real pain to capture audio in another application and search for all the different takes that I need to sync. Right now my idea is to just record audio and video without stopping for long takes so it will be much easier to sync, but I have tried it and sometimes I will forget to start one and/or stop another and it gets really confusing.
If anyone could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated. Thank you!
