Question / Help Internet & Best PC?

Not sure where to post this. I'm new to streaming and was just wondering...

What is the best Internet connection to have for gaming?
(I have a 10/1 Mbps connection)

Also, what is the best and cheapest PC in a SFF case to fit under TV?
(I have an Intel i5-3470 computer with 8Gb RAM and Intel HD Graphics, which doesn't seem to be cutting it. Should I just get a new graphics card? Or a new PC all together?

Thanks in advance!

About Internet connection. See here, which bitrates Twitch recommends for which resolution: https://stream.twitch.tv/encoding/
With a 10/1 Mbps connection, you have 1000 kbps upload bandwidth, from which you need to reserve about 200 kbps for game, voip and other small network traffic, so you have about 800 kbps bandwidth available for streaming.

About your PC: since it's not clear what you intend to stream, it's not clear what kind of PC you need. Usually, here in the forum you will not get much advice about what PC you should buy, because there are infinite possibilities.

Thanks for the reply! And thanks for the help!

I intend to play Zelda or Mario; or other similar games; on Nintendo Switch. Nothing too serious.

The reason I'm asking is because the Elgato HD60 Pro system requirements states that it requires an Intel i5-4xxx processor and Intel HD graphics. I have an Intel HD graphics card. But I can't upgrade to a 4th generation processor on my PC. So I'm looking for the cheapest alternative.

Should I get a 6-core processor or 8?
Should I get a 4th generation processor? Or 8th?
This is all new to me, so I don't know.

I know there are infinite possibilities; so any basic help would be appreciated!
Thank you!

Edit: I definitely need to upgrade my internet.

You can get a cheap GPU ( like gtx 1050 or 1050ti ), you can even go for gtx 1030
I would recommend you to not use the NVENC since you have really low upload speed ( 1mb ) will look so pixeled
If I was you , I would have spent the money of the GPU to improve my internet , and use the integrated Graphics card ( Intel HD ) to stream. Since you're not going for nothing serious ( as you have mentioned ) , you can use all the resources of your PC to stream .

PS : I have just read your second reply , you don't need 6 or 8 cores to stream Mario xD . Your CPU it's fine ( can stream at 720p ) , the only inconvenient is that doesn't have extra threads . It would be so healthy to have some CPU 4cores/8threads .
But as I have mentioned before , the problem that you're having it's the upload speed . If you can't improve it , then yes , you need a good CPU to use the lowest present possible on OBS ( like Medium preset ) , so even at low bitrate ,the quality would look so pixeled

I'm sorry, I'm not quite understanding what you're saying here.

Anyways... Thank you for the reply!

I am able to RECORD at 1080p 60fps using the Elgato Game Capture software pretty flawlessly. But not stream; as my internet sucks; so...
But when I use OBS; it's pretty temperamental. I'm assuming it's a settings thing; because OBS is just a little bit complicated.

Anyways, look forward to hearing back from you!

there is no point to that, for streaming your internet connection is to slow, upgrade your internetconnection to atleast 10 mbit upload, after that come back.

I mean , that you can save money to upgrade your internet first . You don't necessary need a GPU to stream since you're having a Intel HD ( from intel cpu ) , not the best quality , but gonna look O.K if you're having 5-6mb upload .

I could upgrade my CPU to an Intel i7-3770 for around $135 (Canadian) But would that make a huge difference? What do you mean by "It would be so healthy"?

I mean , you don't want to stress your CPU at the max , otherwise you will have frames loss . It's recommended to have a 4cores/8threads for streaming x264 , 720p/60fps . You can go higher 1080p/60 but you need to increase the CPU's present

Ok, well I'll take that into account if I have any problems, after I upgrade my internet, thank you! (Edit: What is "CPU's present"?)

P.S. I will actually be saving money on my internet bill by upgrading. So.

Sorry for the huge delay , it's the compression ratio ( some way to say it ) . Slower = high CPU usage = better quality at low bitrate
