Question / Help Intermittent frame rate stutter

I've noticed this for a long time, but I relegated it to using an old laptop having hardware shortcomings. However I just recently got a new 2017 iMac and it still happens.

When streaming (or recording) the output will look perfectly smooth for a while, then exhibit some frame stutter for a few seconds before going back to being smooth. This does not happen on the same hardware using OBS on Windows with the same settings (in attached log file), so it seems specific to OBS on macOS. It also does not happen when using other software to record video. Is there any way to get the output smooth the way it appears in Windows?

Same here, happens exactly as described. It happens both in Preview and when recording/streaming, without any encoding/rendering lag reported in stats.
It's been happening on my decked out 2019 iMac on macOS, but not on Windows. Happens also on a decked out MacBook Pro 16", again only on macOS but not in Windows. This is on both x264 and whatever other options are available, with a 720p/1080p canvas, and pretty much anything else you can think of.
It even happens on a fresh install of OBS.
