Intermittent black screen issues

Hi Guys
I have a really weird issue when trying to record via OBS. It seems completely pot luck whether I have the dreaded black screen or not!
Sometimes OBS will load fine, but the majority of times, it will not.
I am running Windows 10 1909 on a Lenovo Ideapad L340. I have built in Intel UHD 630 Graphics and NVidia GeForce GTX 1050. I have tried the 64bit version and 32bit.
I have set the program to only use the Intel graphics, and set to Power Saving, but it is still random as to whether it opens with a black screen or not.
Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

... Further to this, I've deduced it only happens when I have an HDMI cable attached outputted to a projector via an amp. When the HDMI is not connected, OBS records fine with both the x64 and x86 versions.
