Trying to get smooth 1080p60 local recordings I've hit a couple of curious situations.
1) one time while recording in-game Deadcore which has a stopwatch built in i noticed the game dropped a frame but the Nohboard mouse overlay was still showing movement.
it should be mentioned the game does not tax my system in anyway. not in cpu, not in hard-drive, and not on the gpu or anything.
also i was only moving my mouse, and not doing anything else in-game.
2) one time while recording the same thing happened again but this time i was in windowed mode with a 3 decimal stopwatch running in a chrome browser and in monitor capture mode.
3) this time things flip, instead the game is working fine but the stopwatch drops 3 frames. on this third one i switch from NVENC to low CPU encode thing though.
i dunno what to make of all this, but just as a control i'm going to do the same with shadowplay now.
update: Well i can only get monitor capture to work with deadcore on Shadowplay. equal amounts of dropped frames, i guess the recording softwares don't like it when i rapidly move the mouse back and fourth as fast as humanly possible.
anyway onwards! i can't use a keyboard overlay on shadow i think, so i had to settle for just the window mode and chrome stopwatch comparison. no odd things such as one dropping frames and the other not dropping frames occurred. i didn't check every frame nor did i do as many samples because i want to get on with my life. so the sample may have been too small but for now i'll say it didn't happen with shadowplay.
that being said, if someone else wants to repeat this for shadowplay and try to make one work but not the other post your findings here.
i guess, if i really really want no dropped frames i'll need a second computer. or lower my settings and capture frame-rate...which i wish i didn't have to do.
my real gripe is that i want Nohboard. can i do that with a second computer? in all honesty if i have to give up Nohboard there isn't much to tie me to OBS.
