Instructions for Firestick operation via OBS

Hi,

I am trying to configure my Firestick for operation on my laptop via OBS 30.2.3 running Linux.

I have connected my Firestick to my laptop via a HDMI video capture card.

I created a new source in OBS named Firestick.

I messed around with the configuration settings (as I could not find a HOWTO) and clicked start record in OBS.

I could see a static image of the Firestick on the laptop screen and hear sound, but the screen remained motionless.

It appears sound is being captured correctly, but not video.

I could hear the remote clicking various apps in the Firestick menu.

Could anyone kindly provide configuration instructions/settings for a Firestick with OBS 30.2.3 on Linux?

Many Thanks.

There are some recent discussions in other subforums about Firesticks not working. The general consensus seems to be that the Firestick displays the splash screen / logo to show that it's working, and then switches to encrypted HDMI for copyright / DRM reasons. Different capture devices handle that differently.

For that reason - we'd essentially be writing a tutorial about how to circumvent IP protection in general - it's probably going to be difficult to get help here. Sorry.
