Installed new update, now recording LAG.

All of my recordings were flawless until I updated. Now there is a lag in any recording I try to make. Even just hitting "stop record" takes a few seconds to actually stop. The playback is very laggy. I have gone through a number of online tutorials to fix and nothing. Any ideas. I wish I hadn't updated.
