Increase video recording quality version 27.2.4 on W7

I can find info for older versions but can't seem to find anything for the new versions. I would rather ask here than use youtube advice. I am probably on all defaults. What can I do to get a less grainy recording?

You'd have to define 'grainy'. Generally you'll want to record using CQP, with no downscale. CQP 22 is generally good-enough for most applications, CQP 16 is visually lossless. CQP 12 and below should not be used without a very specific reason, as filesizes get HUGE.

Past that, Windows 7 is end-of-life, and so now is unsupported and below the minimum requirements for using OBS. We can only really recommend upgrading to Windows 10.

Windows 7 isn't supported So you're on your own with running newer version on it It will have issues
Upgrade to Windows 10 or install an older version from when Window 7 was supported

I mean less sharp than how it plays on the screen compared to how the recording comes out. It is not bad with the defaults but I would like to do a little better if possible. I will try your recommendations. Thanks.
