Question / Help In-game FPS = Great, but OBS FPS drops when actively playing

Hello,

So whenever I'm about to stream/record a game of Overwatch, I make sure everything is good with bitrates things like that but whenever I go and alt-tab into the game to play it, my FPS on the OBS Studio program drops significantly.

I stream 30.00 FPS 720p. The CPU is usually around 4.0% to 20.0% ish but whenever I go into the game to play, I look over to see that the FPS counter drops it down to around 19fps - 25fps. It seems that it's only doing this for Overwatch and a few other games but when I play ARMA 3 the FPS stays stable for me.

Hey,

First, disable Game Mode in windows.
Also, make sure that your AV does not have random feature like Game Mode too.

Arma 3 is CPU heavy game more than GPU. Overwatch are using both.

Can you try Overwatch at low setting and give us the result?

Also, you should try to use QuickSync instead for encoding. You CPU is good for gaming but your videocard is on the limit. QuickSync will help you in term of performance and will give a better quality result.
