Hey everyone,
i stream often with obs studio at 720p@S60fps with 3mbit and for a stream my quality is fine i think. so my problem now is that i want to stream on youtube with 1080p@30fps 9MBits and i want do some local recordings. so my problem is now if i use 9mbit on youtube and switch up to 1080p the stream doesnt really look better. it looks some kind of blurred. so the log for my yt settings are here https://gist.github.com/f2040b396cebc9f8c40ddc7af2432e41
So for my local recordings i tried the high quality local guide from here and the quality is fine yes but there are some moments where you can see some pixels. (like a switch from a black screen to a picture with many details). i think i have this problem because i use a variable bitrate.i tried the same settings like in the elgato software (used CBR with 30MBit and tried veryfast and medium presets) but the quality wasnt so good. can somebody explain me why the elgato software can make really good recordings at 30 mbps and obs records the elgato not so good? i tried the high local recording settings with crf 20,15,10,5. apart from the big video files the problem is there. maybe somebody have a good cbr local recording profile. maybe i should try local recording settings with 100 mbit cbr or something. Local recording profil log data: https://gist.github.com/fac332e1709e51ac56c6f298b1b7479c
have anybody some ideas how i can make the elgato quality in obs better?

The elgato USB devices do a cycle of compression and decompression before your computer even sees the frames once.
That basically puts a cap on the quality of what comes out of an elgato.

i think i fixed my local recording settings for me. i just took the settings from the guide but i leave checked cbr. so i have no more pixels and im satisfied with the quality. but i would be happy if anybody has a idea for my youtube settings. otherwise i must stream at 720p because i think 720 looks a lot better than 1080p at 9mbit.
