Impossible to stream Hogwarts Legacy without major laggs and OBS crashing several times

Hello and food morning to all of you =)

Not sure if we will find a solution here. First of all these are my specs:
WIndows 10 (64-bit)
AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT
32GB RAM
NVIDIA Gforce RTX 3070
Gaming Monitor Solution 2560x1440 @144Hz
OBS Studio Version 29.0.2 (64-bit)

Every driver needed is updated.

My problem looks like this:
I recently moved from streamlabs obs to OBS studio because I got bullied and even laughed at because I was told that I am using the "wrong" streaming programm.
For further explanation. I have been streaming games like League Of Legends, COD, Counterstrike and other BR Games on streamlabs obs with having 0 performance issues. BUT I was told I should switch to obs studio because its better.

So of course I moved all my overlays and stuff to OBS, worked fine so far. I could even stream games like League without having any trouble. Streamed a lot of games with a Nintendo Switch (using an Elgato Capture Card) and also no performance issues!
Yesterday I wanted to stream Hogwarts Legacy. Then the disaster happened. Stream wasnt even live for like 10 minutes. OBS crashed and stream was gone.
Restartet, rebootet my PC, tried again. Next crash few minutes after loading into the game. OBS encoder error. I was brainstorming, checking all possible solutions for hours. Viewers were long gone. But still couldnt figure out what the problem is.
When playing the game off-stream it runs like it should run.

So would be very kind if someone with a bigger brain than mine had a solution for me.
Seeing some people posting their OBS logs here, so I hope this is the right one>>

Thank you for your time...appreciate it!

Simplfy your captures Try lowering the game settings and Vsync on
The game likes a lot of VRAM which the 3070 is short on

This isn't an issue of little hardware. I have exactly the same issues with a 3080TI. Since OBS 28 many games can't be streamed as with 27. Hundreds if not thousands of users complain that OBS crashes all the time...

So no... it's not his settings ;-)

Just yesterday I tried again to stream HL with OBS 27. I started with OBS 29, settings to LOW, no DLSS, no super sampling, disabled Nvidia virtual green screen from OBS and moved on outer Nvidia Broadcast app (is better managed?).
The stream went good for a while (40/50 min) then started lagging, long delay from chat (> 30 sec). Closed OBS 29 and moved on 28, same thing, after 30 min lag appears. Then moved to 27, again just after a cutscene starts, OBS starts lagging.
If I put better quality settings OBS first lag and than crash, with low settings I can manage a force exit for the game and the stream doesn't lag anymore, but is delayed (>30 sec)

Hello SamWIlsonTV,

So I keep getting texted that my hardware should NOT be the problem, but I still havent managed a solution for it.
My viewer count is slightly decreasing because I cant provide a quality stream anymore.

So did you find any solution yet? Maybe reinstall a previous >OBS version?

Would love to have something I can work with. I put my Hogwarts Legends settings to the very bottom and still OBS crashes....

:-( That means that it isn't even OBS fault like on other games. I mean... I guess we agree that many many streamers have complained since OBS 28 :-)

But here it seems to be the game's not existing optimization for PC. And it seems to be fortunate if it works as you see some streamers streaming without issue (I can only guess that they use a dual PC setup)

Unfortunately, no. I have no solution ready :-(

I tried out of curiosity this morning w/o streaming and the game runs ALMOST flawless on 60 FPS min. with 1440p. I guess the game's graphics card usage is absolutely not taken care of, so OBS wants its share and the game... I mean...also a 3080TI is at some point loaded.

I can't tell you how good your CPU is as I never care for AMD but maybe you could try streaming on the CPU? So the graphics are not so much involved in encoding. But like I said I can't tell you if your CPU can handle this.

Well I really don't know, I've a 3070, but a ryzen 5 3600 as CPU. I get some random error since October when switched to OBS 28 while was streaming RE8. After first crash and bug I managed a full run with OBS with lower settings. With HL with lowest settings I manage a 50 min of streaming, but it each cutscene is killing my OBS, as soon a cutscene starts OBS start lagging, then it freezes (I think cutscene ignores graphic settings). Now I'm starting with Dead Space, lowest settings, no DLSS, with OBS 29, lets see if I can do a stream

I think absolutely that Hogwarts needs some graphics driver update as the tweet of deFriselle show (4090 and 77 FPS is a joke)

But also OBS needs a massive update to fix issues with it. I just did some desktop recordings and every take it is crashing...that's ridiculous as well. Before OBS 28 I had 5 years of no issues with OBS.

I have about the same specs on one PC and better on another with no issue with OBS on either
Check your plugins and drivers or just roll back to 27.2.4

So you'd say the issue is coming from OBS then?

Also do we need to backup anything before installing a previous version? I'm on the latest version of OBS, wouldn't want to lose anything.
