Implementing Local Audio output option

Hello,
we used Open Broadcaster at a convention to mix live video and overlays for the videoprojection last year.
This worked great but missing the option to edit scenes without everyone seeing it was a problem.
This year I played around with the Studio version and it looks absolutely great so far. Great work!

The problem is, that we won't only stream the video to another room, we also need local audio output.
I just realized that this is currently not possible as far as i understand.

This is my question:
Can anybody tell me how hard it would be to implement that option and maybe what would be the best approach to accomplish this?
I do have someone with a bit of programming experience who could help me but maybe somebody could give us some hints where to start with this.
We would of course give out the changes we make. Maybe it helps for implementing this feature for everyone.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You mean audio monitoring? If so it's on the agenda, though is still a few patches away. It depends on how you define difficult. If by difficult you mean modifying the core, then yea it'll involve having to do that. It requires outputting audio for 3 different operating systems as well, though a library can be used typically
