Images More Transparent

Hey all,

I help run a weekly livestream and since upgrading from OBS 26.x to 27, my images seem to be more transparent than normal. Is there a setting on OBS 27.0.1 that guides this now? I am using PNG's added most of the time as an image slideshow. It is basically a banner at the bottom with an opacity of about 90% and the background is transparent to show the camera view. Using the same image, in the same scene in 27.0.1 I would guesstimate that the image looks like it is at like 60% opacity now, but my original image has not been altered. So, the same image in the same scene is much more transparent with the only change being an upgrade of OBS.

If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

Its a general change how obs 27 works with gamma-based pixel calculations. Background information and how to better integrate with usual image editing software here:

Awesome, thanks for the information. This gives me a great starting point to try testing some things. Unfortunately in my initial tests, I'm not seeing a difference. I've turned on Blend RGB Colors Using Gamma: 1.0 in photoshop and exported a test image. Added that to a scene using the 'Apply alpha in a linear space' checkbox but it still looks closer to 60% opacity despite being 90% in photoshop. One other concern I have is that linear space checkbox is not present for image slideshows, which is what I primarily use (sometimes there are multiple banners for one scene that I scroll through).

Again, thank you for the information. Now I know why and can try and play around with it. Worst case I will have to ditch the transparency, which will be unfortunate because I like being able to see behind the banner slightly, but it is what it is.

You haven't to ditch it at all.

In worst and simple manner it just means that you have to accomodate all your pictures and overlays once, to fit again to your conception and belief. I personally don't think that the obs contributors will change obs's behaviour regarding this again over the next months... ;)

I just meant following the instructions they provided I haven't been able to get it to change it's behavior. I'll read over them again to see if I missed anything, but I updated the setting in Photoshop and updated the setting in OBS but it didn't alter the output at all (and the fact that I use image slideshows and that checkbox isn't in the image slideshow properties). If I can't figure it out my solution will be to just ditch the transparency because in its current state it becomes hard to read.

I haven't given up, just considering my options if for some reason I can't get it to work :)
