My Setup & Problem:
I have an audio mixer connected to my PC's motherboard line-in port. As soon as I plug the cable into the PC, a constant background noise appears in OBS. This noise is always there, even when there's no music or microphones active on the mixer.
What I've Tried So Far:
Isolated the Mixer: I've tested the mixer's output directly with headphones, and the audio is perfectly clean. The noise only exists when the mixer is connected to the PC.
OBS Filters: I've tried using OBS filters like Noise Suppression and a Noise Gate. This hides the noise when everything is silent, but as soon as I speak into the mic or play any sound, the gate opens and the background noise comes through along with my audio.
Power Source: I tried disconnecting the setup from the main power and running it differently to check for a bad power outlet, but it made no difference to the noise.
