Question / Help I'm running a 25-30MB/s upload speed but only getting about 6-7MB/s on OBS.

So I set my bitrate to 15MB/s. But the most I get is between 6-7.

When I test my upload speed, it's easily 25-30MB/s. And I know the difference between Mbps and MBps.

So why can't I get 15MBps when uploading with OBS?

Twitch recommend a maximum of 6mbps, 15mbps may be throttled by them. By default OBS will automatically enforce their settings to avoid issues.

I definitely see streamers streaming much higher quality content than this so I don't really understand the issue. Why can some people stream max HD 1080p and I'm stuck to a blurry mess at 6k bitrate?

edit: Just hopping onto Twitch.tv, most of the streams on the front page look near lossless which is clearly a LOT more than 6k bitrate.

You will always think your stream looks worse, since you have the original lossless source material to compare it to.

You can use https://r-1.ch/analyzer/ to find out what bitrate other streams are using, very few will be higher than 6mbps.
