I'm pissed off: automatic downscaling of recordings

I'm really pissed off right now.

I had used a "default profile" (really there were multiple but only used that one and overwrote preferences) ans swapped between resolutions.

My default monitor resolution is 3440×1440 (ultrawide). I used to have a capture card that was 1080p but switched to a 4K Avermedia a month ago.

A few days ago, I decided that I was sick of switching resolutions back and forth. I renamed the one I was using (set to 4K) and created a new one going off the assumption that it copied the current settings. So, I just went and changed the resolution to my desktop resolution and I swear that I changed the AUTOMATICALLY set 2.5× LESS resolution (1376x576) back to 3440×1440.

I went to record over 2h+ of content to find out that my hotkeys didn't carry over and, as such, I didn't record anything. Lost some good moments.

Today, I restart this. There were GOOD moments as well today and I wanted them to be in 3440×1440... instead, I found a small-ish in size for a little less than 2h of video in.......................................... 1376x576 at shitty bitrate in a MKV container (I usually use MOV for Premiere Pro compatibility while retaining lossless audio) at 30fps (Usually record at 60).

I AM PISSED OFF.

Yes, there is the "Duplicate" option in Profile but, to me, if I press "New", I expect to have the current settings to carry over, not to start over. Most software I use do that by default. Sure, that's a wrong assumption to do and the unexisting hotkeys should have been a red flag.

But also... WHY. WHY IS THAT OBS AUTOMATICALLY DOWNSCALES 2.5x LESS ??? (it's less for lower res but still) There is NO OPTION to deactivate that fucking behavior. You have to change it every single time...

Yes...

EVERY

SINGLE

TIME

You change the resolution.

I have a VERY capable PC (R9 5900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 3070 Ti...) I don't think i should be told by a program what is the best output resolution.

Now, I have some moments in shit quality at shit frame rate and bitrate.

P.S If you are to reply with "well, let this serve as a lesson" or similar - don't bother replying.
P.P.S Not sorry about the all caps.
