I have a Sony A6000 + MIC connected via HDMI to a USB Video Capture stick - This set up has been working fine & correctly with OBS for audio & video over HDMI for about 6 months.
BUT - yesterday I decided to install VB-CABLE system plugin in an attempt to get OBS Audio Effects to output to Google Meet etc. (normally the hdmi/usb audio on Mac doesnt go through OBS without a virtual cable of some kind)
Anyway, this didnt work, so I removed the installation (vb-audio forum)
& restarted several times over by now,
However I now have a problem of NO AUDIO at all coming over the HDMI/USB device.
The standard Mic/Aux input that is part of the Video Capture source "USB Camera" is dead (no levels) & I cant work out what mistake I have made. I think everything was as before...
Can you help me troubleshoot this situation?
OBS Prefs > Audio > Global Audio : all disabled except Mic/Aux = USB Digital Audio
I am 100% certain this is the same as before & should be correct.
OBS Prefs > Audio > Advanced : Monitoring Device = Default
I haven't altered anything else, so I am at a loss how to return to the previous state.

DELETE the VBCable.Driver file in your MAC/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL directory
DELETE the VB-CABLE Control Panel.app file in your Applications/VB-Audio directory
