I'm not sure what you're trying to show in that video. What exactly are you trying to capture? Can you take a screenshot of what you actually see instead of showing a tutorial video that isn't relevant?

Capture OBS.PNG

Ok, here's a screenshot of my monitor when using OBS.

The video is to illustrate what I see when I start up OBS. That grey screen is what I see instead of what is truly on my monitor.

I'm not super PC-savvy by any means, that's why I linked someone else's video to show what I'm talking about. Maybe someone would get an idea of what I'm doing wrong by seeing what OBS is shows on that guys monitor. What you see on that guys monitor is what I see on my monitor while trying to use OBS.

I'm trying to stream Xbox One games to youtube. The youtube end seems fine but the OBS preview screen shows only a grey screen, not what I would see on my monitor, which would be the Xbox stream from my Xbox.

That is expected with display capture. What you're seeing is called the droste effect. Just minimize OBS and it won't happen any more.

I'm still not sure what you mean by "grey screen." If you're talking about the grey boxes on either side of OBS in that screenshot, that's just the area of OBS that's ouside your preview window. It sounds like you're a bit confused and new to OBS, try checking out one of the new user guides here:
