I cant view my files

Lately I havent been able to open files I keep getting an error message saying

(Im opening it in windows movie and tv but ive tried VLC and Media player too and I installed HEVC codec) Ive done all sorts of shit to my settings trying to solve this but nothings working anyone mind helping me (Ive also tried recording in mp4, mkv, mov, flv)

My current settings

from within OBS try File -> Remux Recordings.

edit: always record in MKV format.

can you play any other video files? the problem may be with windows and not obs.

it works fine with other videos just obs for some reason

Am I missing something... you mention HEVC codec but your settings are x264 (and my understanding without double-checking is that H.265 is HEVC, not the older x264/H.264 compression format) so not sure relevant???

Then within that, there are LOTS of options within a given video format, which some software can be okay with, and others not.
Per pinned post in this forum (link in my .sig), providing your OBS log is helpful, as your screen capture images are not all of the Recording settings (streaming settings presumably not relevant). And the OBS log, when creating a 30second plus recording) is helpful to check to make sure no errors in the Recording process which may indicate the recording is unusable

I finally fixed it IDK how but some how I had OBS recording 100x my screen resolution and it was recording a screen thats like 10 years older than my other one thanks for the help from you two
