I can't hear the audio I am streaming

I have setup my themes and the audio that I want to play with them. When I activate them I do not hear the audio. When I record, I can hear the audio when I play it back. I have used OBS before and I can't remember the correct setting to have for each of my audio files, so I can hear them but they also broadcast to stream. I have played around with monitor and output and tried monitor only (mute output) and sometimes I can hear the audio and sometimes I can't. Any help as to what setting I am supposed to have would be appreciated....thanks

I figured it out. It was the monitoring device. In Settings and Audio there is a monitoring device. I have to select the device I want to hear the sound from. In my themes I need to set the audio monitoring to monitor and output, so I can hear the audio that will be streamed.
Thank you

I also noticed that I am using my laptop for multiple things and I have to reconnect the laptop to my mixer when I am working on my podcast with OBS. Sometimes I have to switch to Monitor Off and then switch back to Monitor and Output for the sound to come back. It is a little glitch if you will but I may just invest in another laptop just to do my show, instead of using this one to go back and forth and readjusting my settings each time.

To avoid glitches and delay you may directly monitoring with earphones on the mixer as soon as you checked that the audio comes into your laptop fine. Then you can trust your ears on the mixers (non-delayed) phones output and still watch the meters in OBS to avoid loud peaks.

Compressor and Limiter preferred in the obs track.
