I can't hear sounds from the game during recording

Hi. Although OBS successfully recorded the game I was playing (both video and sound) onto a video file, I wasn't able to hear any sound from the game *WHILE* OBS was recording. Is this really the way OBS works? Or should I have been also hearing the sounds from my game during the entire recording?

The game I recorded with OBS Studio is The Sims 4. By the way, something I didn't mention in my original post ... OBS rendered my entire system soundless while it's recording. Just now, I was watching a YouTube video from the browser that helped me resolve some OBS issues, and there was no sound coming from the video until I exited OBS Studio. Hope that additional information helps.
