Our church uses sermon.net, OBS, and MAC for streaming our services. For the last two months (without changing any settings (intentionally), when we start streaming, we go through the few check on YouTube and in the viewer window we get the swirling ball, and the video does not appear in there for basically (10) minutes. So we are having to "go live" 10 minutes of the real start to make sure we capture all the content.
We are a group of novices so any help and simple checks are appreciated.
Hmm. I stream to youtube 5 days a week from a Mac at 1080P/60 with a bitrate of 6000 KB/s and have never had any issues as you describe. It sounds like you need to start eliminating possible causes to find the cause.
Some troubleshooting thoughts:
1. Set up and a private test stream from YouTube without sermon.net. Within the
YouTube stream control room, and look at the stream health tab. If there are errors, it should show here. Any insights or does the issue reproduce?
2. Set up an empty scene collection with only your video input device - try step 1 again.
3. Try an earlier release of OBS Studio. Your settings may not have changed BUT your OBS version may have been updated. Download an older release, copy it to the desktop, rename it to OBS v(version number) such as OBSv27.1 then move it to your applications folder. - try step 1 again.
