Huge amount of skipped frames due to encoding lag when recording at anything at over 85 fps in 2560x1440 resolution

This is a crosspost from my post on the OBS subreddit, which was before I noticed and read the pinned post titled "Please use official OBS Discord and forum as primary support channels".

I have a high refresh rate monitor at 1440p resolution, and I'm trying to record footage at 120 fps. When I try that, OBS starts skipping half of all frames due to encoding lag. But when I do the same thing after setting my screen's resolution to 1080p, it can record at 120 and 165 fps just fine, without skipping any frames. I don't understand what's going on, because there's no problem with my recording settings (as far as I know), and my computer should be able to handle it completely fine. It happens regardless if I run it on the desktop or while a game is running.
I tested a few other framerates to see where the problem starts, and I ruled it down to around 85 fps.

I've tried...
  • Turning off Psycho Visual Tuning
  • Turning off my secondary monitor (and switched to pc screen only in windows)
  • Setting the process priority of OBS to High (inside settings)
None of these things fixed my issue.

I provided links to all information you might need below:

Please help!!! Why does OBS behave like this, and how can I fix it?

In Settings->Advanced->Video set Color format back to NV12, the default. You set RGB, which has no hardware acceleration.

Thank you, this actually fixed it! That was much simpler than I thought.

Попробуйте сделать видео с помощью NVIDIA SHADOWPLAY.
А потом скажите, будет ли разница.
I tried recording a video through Shadowplay and had no problems, but I specifically stated in my post that I'm trying to record at 120 fps, which Shadowplay isn't capable of. I'm not looking to switch back to it, since I went with OBS because of the customization it allows, which includes audio quality, while Shadowplay's audio is set at an unchangeable 128 kbps. On the other hand, you can only record at 60 fps maximum with it. So basically, the lack of customization, bad audio quality, and no option to record at higher than 60 fps is what turned me away from Shadowplay. Thanks for your reply, though!
