Question / Help How to Turn Off Streaming

New to OBS. In Settings > Output, I'm getting "Warning: Recording with a software encoder at a different quality than the stream will require extra CPU usage if you stream and record at the same time." I see that other such warnings seem to be triggered by relevant settings. So presumably I'm getting this warning because I'm streaming. I have no desire to stream. Do I need to turn off streaming and, if so, how do I do that?

As long as you are not clicking the "Start Streaming" button you are not streaming. So you can ignore this warning as you are only recording.

To get rid of the warning, go into Settings->Output, and in the "Streaming" section set "Hardware (QSV)" as encoder. Since you don't intend to stream, this setting is functional irrelevant, but you get rid of the warning.

Your recording settings in the section below don't need to change, although you would get rid of the small amount of skipped frames if you change the recording encoder from x264 to QSV as well. This will get you rid of some lags and choppy parts in the recording. The quality of the recorded video will appear unchanged, it's only the file size that will probably increase a bit.
