Question / Help How to tell whether OBS Studio is recording in background?

I can't tell whether OBS is recording, and if I do a key shortcut wrong I might waste an hour not recording anything. Is there anything like a notification that I can enable?

There is a plan to do this but it's not high priority, here is one bug related to the problem:

With recordings you can just confirm the file is being created before you start.

How do I do that? I don't want to have to trim anything.
