I tried using the setting to record 'indistinguishable quality video' to hard drive while streaming. Just the menu selection on the default simple view preference page.
The video was more dropped frames than not! (Like a slow slide show!) No issues with the computer resources. Plenty of CPU power and I/O with the SSD and smooth sailing while running. I also had the computer doing the audio mix with Reaper DAW and recording the multitrack audio. No issues or dropouts in the audio. The corrupted video file had perfect dropout free audio.
Setting OBS to record the streaming quality stream instead worked flawlessly.
Are there advanced settings required for the video to do this? Some other suspected operator error? Or is this feature just not quite there yet?
I'll try the "medium quality" setting today when I get into troubleshooting later and report back.
Maybe I should be running a separate app to record the raw video? Perhaps VLC player?
