Long story short, how should I write in the "File path or URL" setting, if I wish to listen to all incoming ip when streaming the OBS to overseas friends in OBS directly(through http something like that)?(the URL path circled in the attached picture. it's the latest version obs studio.)
Please help me, thanks a lot!
I'm quite a newbie to http, utp, command prompt etc. I don't have the knowledge to understand the science behind these technologies. I just want to figure out how to use them....
For my recent works, I need to stream my computer screen, a webcam or a video clip etc to my oversea colleagues. I don't wish to use utube/twitch live etc to do that because it's not for entertainment, but for personal work. I don't mind other people see it, but I don't wish to do it publicly on purpose. I don't want to record the screen and stuff then upload/send the whole video.(It is how I'm handling the problem for now, it's just very time consuming.) I am not rich, I don't have excess money to buy expensive programs for it as well.
So I wish to stream it directly to my colleagues through OBS http. Since I did some research and learned that it seems that OBS can stream the recording to other people directly over the internet through http format or something.
I guess I set most of the setting right. except I don't understand how to set the URL path(circled in the attached picture) at all.
After reading a lot of articles, I assume I should write something like this "http://ip:port", then it's done. but I don't know if I write my ip or the ip that OBS listens to. If it means "the ip that the OBS http stream should listen to", then I don't want to set a specific ip number to listen to because I usually don't know my oversea colleagues ips at all, and their ips change from time to time. Can I just listen to all incoming ip (regardless of any risk)? How do I set/write?
And the port can be any number, just pick one, right? like 8080.
say I wish the OBS stream to listen in port 8080, do I write "http://<all address>:8080" there? or how do i write in the "File path or URL" setting. I can't figure out the format/computer language.
then my friends can open VLC and watch the stream directly using that http format/my ip address, right?
Thanks again for all the help! i'm sorry for my bad english.. Thanks.
