How to select what camera source to use

I have a DSLR connected to my laptop. I have created a 2nd scene, the obs is only showing the video from my laptop cam. I want to show my DSLR.

DSLRs generally cannot function as webcams by plugging them in over USB. That connection is for transferring files to and from the SD card in the camera. Some brands have an app (you'll have to check with the manufacturer to see if yours has one) that provides a low-quality preview over USB, but it's always low framerate and poor visual quality.

You'll need to use the camera's HDMI output, plugged into something like an Elgato Camlink or other HDMI capture device to use your DSLR in OBS.
