Question / Help How to route a mic and MIDI piano through an audio interface

Hey OBS forum!

It's my first post here! :)

Let me describe my set-up to you. I have a Steinberg UR22 (audio interface) that is connected via USB to my computer. I also have a Roland Fantom X8 and a pretty great large diaphragm condenser mic. Both the mic and the Roland are connected to the UR22. My question is, how can I route the piano and mic into separate audio channels in OBS studio? Currently, they are both being routed into a single Mic/Aux audio channel.

I only have one Mic/Auxiliary audio device enabled in the settings (which is the UR22), but the only other options available to me are 'Default' and the mic from my Logitech C920.

If you guys could help me out, that would be awesome.

Thanks,

The chances are that two devices connected to a single USB audio interface will be mixed into a single set of audio channels before they even reach the PC. Unless one of them's on the left channel and the other's on the right, it's very unlikely you'll be able to separate them out.

Note that Ableton will be using ASIO drivers, while OBS uses WDM drivers. ASIO will likely give you more options.

I have a roland quad capture. My rode procaster mic is connected to it, and it also has a direct input for my guitar.

The quad capture (and i expect your steinburg ur22) has multiple virtual outputs. My mic us on 1-2 and my guitar is on 3-4 within the quad capture driver/control software (which is asio).

I then use voicemeeter banan, one of the products SoWhoYou pointed you to. Yhis allows me to bring in multiple (and seperate) audio input signals:
Game sounds
Teamspeak sounds
Mic sounds
Guitar sounds

I then output those sounds wherever needed using voicemeeter to real or virtual locations:
Game sounds go to my headphones and primary audio device
Mic goes to virtual b1
Ts 3 goes to my headphones and virtual b2
Guitar (should i need it) gies to headphones and virtual b2

OBS is then set to seperately record:
Primary audio device
Virtual b1
Virtual b2

When im gaming this allows me to bring my obs recording into premiere and edit/adjust volume of game, mic and teamspeak sounds seperately.

Whem im recording music i record b1 and b2 (with the teamspeak input muted) and get mic and guitar seperately in obs. I turn my scene hook off so i get no video.

Its all possible.

I have finally gotten around to trying out some solutions (I reformatted my PC on Saturday). SoWhoYou, I'm going to try out your method and I'll see if I can make it work. I'll report back with my results.

EDIT: Doesn't seem like I was able to get it to work using CheVolume. I'm going to try DamageInc's suggestion. It always sucks to go through technical woes such as this :/

One question, if I were to get a physical mixer in a couple of months, would this routing problem still exist? Would I still need to use my audio interface?
