Question / Help How to record webcam and screen to different files simultaneously?

Hi. I use OBS for making let's plays, and I'd like to figure out how to record my webcam and screen capture to different files so that I can edit them together later. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks.

You could run 2 instances of OBS, one just for the game and the other for just your webcam.

I guess that could work, though then they would start recording at different times and I'd have to sync them up, which would be extra work and I might not be able to do it perfectly. I'm also wondering whether running multiple instances of OBS might slow down my computer? I'd like to start recording both at the same time, if possible.

As to running multiple instances, it would use more resources. If that's enough to slow down your computer, I can't say. You'd have to test and see.

Also keep in mind that a number of HDDs (and some SSDs) wouldn't be able to keep up with 2 simultaneous recordings at high bitrates. You'd have to test that as well.

As to the syncing, just record the webcam mic on the webcam feed and sync the audio in post. Then mute/delete the webcam audio.
