How to project 2D overlays on 360 equirectangular video on OBS without distortion?

I want to project a 2D video inside the 360 video. It appears that I can't simply overlay the 2D video on top of a equirectangular version of the 360 video in the scene as I get distortion. How can I project it so that it's not distorted? thanks!
