How to nest a Scene

New User Here - The goal is to create a scene for each camera, then use camera scenes in other scenes so that changing camera setting does not mess up other scenes

Inside a scene, when I choose add resource, scene, none of the existing scenes are offered as existing.

Suspect that I am missing a step. So the root question is, how do I nest a scene in another scene?

Thanks for your assistance!

You cannot add any other scene as source, because there isn't any other scene according to your log.

Thanks for responding, koala - Here's an image of my scene collection alongside the add source screen for scenes which is empty and non-functional. Thanks Vic G

These are scene collections, not scenes. You cannot add scene collections as scene - they are a totally different thing.

It seems you mistake scene collections with scenes. In the OBS window, you see in the bottom left corner a docked subwindow titled "Scenes". In your case, a single scene is present with the name "scene". If you press the + on the bottom of that dock, you add a second scene where you can switch to and add sources like in your first scene. You can add as many scenes here as you like. If you don't have the Scenes dock, make it visible again with View->Docks->Scenes, if the checkmark is missing for scenes. If in doubt, use View->Docks->Reset UI.

Scene collections are inactive libraries of this scene window and the sources associated with the scenes. Only the scenes from the current scene collection are available. The scenes in other scene collections are always unavailable. Unfortunately, it isn't even possible to copy/move scenes from one scene collection to another. They are completely independent from each other.

Thank you Koala. It took a UI reset to see the Scenes box. Now your explanation makes complete sense. It's good to know about scene collection independence including inability to copy. Thanks again. Vic G

To avoid accidentally closing one of the essential docks, I recommend to activate View->Docks->Lock UI.
