How to make recording more crisp?

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to adjust my obs settings to have my screen recordings be just like my monitor. This is the closest I can get it to, but obviously there is still room for improvement. Here are some of my settings, as well as what the recording vs. a screen shot looks like.

P.S. yes my screen and output resolution are both the same (1080p) at 60fps. I have reset transformation and there is no stretching. Also running as admin does not improve quality. I have opened stats during recording and everything seems fine, nothing is out of order.

Thanks!

Don't use CBR for recording, use CQP between 24 to 15 (lower best quality and more abuse of the GPU) and change preset to p6 or p5.
You can also change the encoder to H.265, HEVC or AV1 (if available). In case you edit later the video make sure the encoder you choose can be read by the video editor you have.

I tried H.264 and HEVC with CQP at 15 and preset to p6 with both being very similar, if not the same. I don't have H.265 and AV1 can't be read with my video editor, but it still did not yield a better result anyway, and took a lot more power. I personally feel like my previous settings with CBR worked a *little* bit better, some text with CQP was more off and had slight red pixels around them, while CBR didn't.

B Frames are the lowest quality frame type. Good for low bit-rate CBR but not so good for a hi-quality recording. Zero them & I don't use Psycho Visual Tuning in my recordings either.

I really wish it worked but it's still missing that extra sharpness :( thank you though!
