How to keep OBS out of Desktop video

This is also a Windows thing. Basically, I record the desktop with OBS and everything works great .... except that most of the recorded screen IS OBS and so it doesn't work well for a capture. I've searched everywhere, but I can't find an answer. Two monitors worked perfectly, but I just lost my second monitor so I'm trying to do this with one screen.

What if you put OBS on an alternate desktop?

That's the problem, two monitors works great, but my monitor just died on me so now I just have one for now. Even in youtube videos about OBS you see people recording OBS interface instead of what's underneath it.

You can setup multiple desktops on a single monitor in MacOS called “spaces” and use various hot keys to move between them. This feature has been in MacOS as long as I can remember and I can’t imagine not using it. I have a 3 monitor setup and I still use it. Here is Apple’s instructions for setting it up and using it. I don’t know how/if OBS interacts with that, but it’s probably worth trying.

Thanks for that! I'm kind of a Mac noob so I had never heard of spaces. Well yes, that's a great and I will certainly give it a try.
