How to import PowerPoint slides

I'm very new at all of this and need to use PP slides for a Youtube video and record a script over the slides. This was the recommended software. Do I just use Image SlideShow as the Source? Thanks for helping a newbie.

My first two immediate thoughts are:
  1. Open the slides in PowerPoint, and export from there as images. Then use those images in OBS. This removes all of the animation that you might have had, so if that's critical, you'll want to use #2 instead.
  2. Open the slides in PowerPoint, show them from there on a dedicated screen (use PP's settings to select that screen), and then display-capture that screen in OBS. This keeps the animation, but now you're coordinating two different programs live.
    • If you're short on screens, you might be able to show the presentation on whatever screen you do have, Alt-Tab or otherwise switch back to OBS, and then window-capture the presentation. PowerPoint does work that way, at least according to the taskbar. You might even be able to use PP's "Presenter mode" to control the slides without ever blocking the taskbar, so you can switch (somewhat) easily between those controls and OBS.
    • Another variation on this concept is to use two computers - one for PowerPoint and the other for OBS - with a hardware video capture in between. Be careful though, about cheap captures. They'll add "JPG fuzzies" to that signal, and delay it by a random amount between 100ms and 500ms or so, and that delay will be different every time you turn it on. Expect to spend about $100 per channel for a *good* hardware capture that doesn't do that.
