To start here is my log for recent video tests: https://hastebin.com/xezifozoti

I was able to record 1440p with Xsplit and it was fine... but with a water mark and I don't really like Xsplit.

I want to play in 4k with my 1080ti and use my 1060 for hardware encoding. I was able to do that with OBS, but the videos have terrible stutters. One video had 20% of frames suffer from encoding lag. 20%!!!!

I am playing the game from an m.2 drive and recording to a WD Black hdd.

Surely its possible to get decent 1440p60fps vids with my hardware. The only think I can really upgrade is a faster m.2 or SDD for recording drive.

Can you explain why? If I just use 1080ti I get worse performance. So splitting the workload between two GPU give me better performance.

Getting the frames moved between the two video cards takes up all your pci-e bandwidth because you're forcing both cards into x8 mode instead of running a single card at x16.

You need to physically remove your 1060.

Then is there anyway to not get the performance loss with just the 1080ti. The second I start streaming or recording I get a 10-15fps drop. Is NVEC the best choice? x264?

I did some experimenting. NVEC is definitely the best, and there's simply no way to play in 4k and record in 1440p. With my current rig. I don't even know if SLI titans would help. but 1440p and 1440p worked out.

SLI would make things worse for the same reason that just having the 1060 installed makes things worse. Your CPU only has a TOTAL of 16 pci-e lanes, and if you have 2 video cards, that forces BOTH to be in x8 mode at best.
