How to fix OBS stopping recording audio when Windows Surface goes to sleep?

Hi all,

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Up until 2 weeks ago I had been using the following set up with no issues: input from a Canon M50 + Rode Mic -> to Windows Surface Pro 7 -> recorded in OBS. OBS would record video and audio with no issues when I put the surface to sleep but just over the last 2 weeks the audio now drops out as soon as the surface goes to sleep (although it continues to record video!).

An obvious work around will be to keep the Surface active but this is a bit inconvenient and I'm assuming that this must just be a setting somewhere in OBS that I haven't been able to find yet?

Cheers,
Michael

1. SLEEP has a very specific technical meaning at the OS (Operating System) level
And Sleep does NOT mean turning the Display off (completely different thing), though settings are often in same place

So, presuming you are using the term 'sleep' accurately - Uh, I can't image OBS (or any app) was running when Windows OS goes to sleep. the whole point of OS 'sleep' mode is a pause of ALL applications/processes.
So, either your system wasn't really asleep, or ?? what you are calling sleep wasn't actually. maybe a Surface BIOS/OS bug and system NOT truly going to sleep and now is (entirely possible)??

On further checking I think I was actually putting the Surface to sleep when I tapped the power button but for whatever reason OBS was still able to record. I have also realised that I updated the display drivers and this is probably what caused the change.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the update.
entirely possible that pressing power button was 'interrupted' (for whatever reason) such that result was only a turned off Display vs actually putting OS to sleep
