Hi,

This is not a question, but a solution to a frequent problem with OBS.

I don't know why OBS has not fixed this is more then 6 months, but if you get the "failed to start recording" error then here is a guide how to fix it.

The Fix works for about 75% cases. If it does not work for you, then change the encoder to x264

There is a lot of misinformation here. This is not actually what's going on. The "out of memory" error is a red herring, and was introduced only in recent NVIDIA driver updates and with newer versions of Adobe Premiere (or other software that utilizes CUDA)

The "bug" is that when Premiere is using CUDA, NVENC cannot start when using FFmpeg's NVENC implementation (which is what OBS uses). This is an NVIDIA driver problem, not a ram problem, not an OBS problem.

We've known about this for a few weeks, there's an entire thread about it here: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/recording-premiere-w-nvenc.72472

In nearly all cases when a user sees this error, is it because they are trying to use NVENC on a laptop scale-down GPU with no proper NVENC support. However, this is not the only time this happens, and there are dozens of reasons that this error can pop up. Most of which are addressed by the message itself.

Thank you for the effort, but this is not going to work for "75% of cases" like you claim.
