Question / Help How to connect Canon Vixia to MacBook Pro Mojave as external webcam

I have a Canon Vixia HF R62 camcorder that I want to connect to my MacBook Pro running Mojave (10.14). I have the camera connected to the laptop via USB and HDMI but OBS does not sense the camera. Is there another piece of hardware I need between the camera and the laptop? I can OBS to see my internal camera on the laptop. Please point me to a step-by-step tutorial of how to connect the hardware.

Hey @nickstrobel - You will likely need a capture device in order to stream from your Canon camcorder. I've always found the Magewell devices to be highly reliable and effective. 100% agree with @Narcogen that avoiding Elgato on MacOS is a smart move if possible. It can work (and I've got it to work for someone successfully before), but the chance of a bug/dropped signal is more likely than not.
