Question / Help How to capture a game twice?

Hi,

my question is a bit tricky to explain. I run iRacing - a racing simulation - on triple screens in full screen mode. Screencapture sadly is not working with iRacing - I always get a black screen. But Gamecapture is working. So I capture the center monitor of the triple screens using the Gamecapture mode`for a stream.

Now the mirrors of the car are situated on the left and right monitor and therefore cannot be seen in the captured footage. So I would like to also add just the part of the mirror from the right monitor and add it to the stream. I found out that it is possible to crop the captured picture to a given part, so I can cut the mirror section only.

BUT, if I try to use the Gamecapture twice - it's not working - one of it turns always black. Sadly I cannot get Screencapture working with iRacing reliable, as this might have been a way to capture another part of the game.

Is there a way to make this work somehow? Naming might be tricky as I had to translate from my German version of OBS..

Does one instance of Game Capture correctly grab the center and both mirrors? If yes, create 1 Game Capture, named after the game. Once configured, close the Properties window, right click the Game Capture in the Sources list, click "Copy", then "Paste (Reference)" twice. This should result in 3 instances of Game Capture, capturing the same game. Now, in each of these, you can hold Alt and drag the sides of the source in the canvas to crop each capture to only the parts you need. This allows you to position each "piece" of the game separately.

In addition to @WizardCM: don't use the crop filter to crop. This filter is global and applies to all references of a source. Instead, remove the crop filter and hold ALT and drag the sides of the source to crop every reference individually as @WizardCM wrote.

Thank you very much for your helpfull and detailled replies! I followed your instructions and it seems to almost work like a charm. It did work exactly as I wanted when I set it up, and also when I tested it in a practice session, but for some reason the copied mirror section part did not show up in a race stream.
I'll stream another race session and see if the issue remains, or if it starts working also then..
